Pioneer Warranty

A commitment to stand behind the finished product

Any job done by Pioneer comes with a 1 year warranty on labor, as well as the manufacturer's warranty on materials. All jobs are satisfaction guaranteed! All we ask is that you give us the opportunity to make things right should anything go astray.

Rates/Prices Explained

When you receive your invoice there may be numerous different charges depending on what kind of service we provide for you. Here is a list of the common services broken down and explained, along with the cost of each service.

Technician Call Out: We charge $169.00 for the call out. This charge accounts for the technician's travel time taken to get to the job. This fee will also cover all equipment charges as we have eliminated all other fees.

Our hourly rate - $158.00 / hour: We charge $158 / hour for our experienced plumbing or hvac technicians time. We bill in ½ hour increments rounding up to the nearest half hour. We feel that our rates are competitively priced for our industry.

Materials Used: If you find a “material” charge on your invoice it will show one total price for all materials used on your job. The materials used on your job have been marked up to account for our warranty should the part come with a manufacturer defect. If a customer would like to supply their own parts this is no problem, however, we will not warranty customer supplied parts. Our vans are fully stocked with the most commonly used materials, but there are several parts that we wont have with us. The time to pick these materials up are part of the service and will be charged at our hourly rate.

Please note: Our technicians all carry common Plumbing or HVAC materials in their vans, however they cannot have every part (there are thousands of different fittings and specialty pieces). In the event that a technician needs to leave your job to purchase additional materials, we charge for our time to do this at our hourly rate.

Helper - $90 / Hour: On some occasions, the technician that is sent to your home has been paired up with a helper. The helper is a plumbing apprentice who has experience in the trade and often helps make the job go faster and smoother. Helpers are charged out at $90.00 / hr. Helpers are sent when we receive “two man jobs”. An example of a two man job would be a larger sewer blockage where a large machine is required, camera work where the locater is to be used, any work in sumps or dangerous areas where if something happened someone needs to be around to help. In the event the job is a one person job and there is no need for a helper, the helper charge will not get billed to you.

Administration Fee: Every invoice is subject to our 7% administration fee. This helps us cover the behind‐the‐scenes costs of providing same-day and the 5 star service that we strive for.

Emergency Rates

At Pioneer, we offer 24 hour emergency service

At Pioneer, we offer 24 hour emergency service. We like to be there for our customers whenever they need us. Our emergency rates are $158 / half hour plus $299 call out. Emergency rates are applied outside the hours of 8am - 6pm, Monday - Friday.

When we come for emergency service, things to keep in mind:

  • Our technicians vans are stocked with common plumbing parts, however, since there are so many brand specific parts on the market we may not always have the part we need on hand. And because the job is after hours, the repair part may not be available until the nearest business day.
  • In some cases our technicians will do a temporary fix for a customer. Something to get them through the night or weekend. There may be a few reasons for this
  • When special parts are not available till the following day/weekday
  • When the repair work is quite involved and will require more than one technician
  • When the customer would like to minimize the emergency time (double rate) on site and have us come back during regular hours.

We ask customers to please be 100% sure when scheduling an emergency call. Due to high cost of sending out our technicians after hours we must charge the minimum charge once our tech arrives on site. Overall, our goal is to diagnose and repair the issue in the most time and cost effective way.

No Special Equipment Fees

We no longer charge for special equipment when needed. In our vans we carry a variety of special tools / equipment that is needed on certain types of jobs. Although these tools can be costly to purchase and maintain, we found that customers were surprised when we charged our small fee for the machine. Because of this we have eliminated our equipment fees to be more upfront with our customers.

Plumbing Equipment

Here is a list of special plumbing equipment included in your service if needed.

Hand Snake

Hand snakes are on the more inexpensive side of plumbing tools, however, due to the small size cable we find that they are often damaged after little use and must be replaced.

Super Vee

A super vee is a 35ft hand held power snake. These machines are perfect for any blocked drain that the hand snake cannot get. Blockages such as bathtubs, bathroom sinks, and kitchen sinks are common scenarios where we would use the super vee.

85 ft Cable

Our 85 foot cable is a general purpose drain machine. It is best operated with one person on the trigger and the other working the cable however it is possible to use without help. These drain machines are capable of tackling fairly large drainage blockages but are versatile enough to get down kitchen and bathroom sink drains for difficult blockages that are a long way down the drain. They are mainly used on larger drains such as 3” main blockages and toilet lines.

100 ft Cable

Our 100 ft cable is strictly for main drain blockages or blockages that are unable to be cleared with the 85 ft cable. We only use this machine on 3” (or larger) drains. This machine is best used with a helper as it has a lot of power and can be quite dangerous to operate by oneself.

Camera

Our camera is one of the most expensive pieces of equipment we have at Pioneer Plumbing. It is a very useful tool when investigating drainage issues. It can show us the condition of the inside of drains, how deep the drain is in the ground, and is mainly used to locate blockages or issues that are found while investigating. The camera undergoes significant wear and tear every time we use it and costs us to keep it regularly maintained and operational. To rent a camera from a rental company the cost is around $350.00.

Jetting Machine

Our jetting machine is used to clean the inside of drains. Over time, debris can build up on the walls of the pipe. Our jetting machine is used to pressure wash the sides of the drain cleaning any debris that has become caked on and washing it down and out of the system. If the walls of drains build up it can eventually lead to a very serious blockage.

Large Pro Press

The propress tool is a crimping style tool used on copper water pipe systems. It helps to save time as soldering copper involves pipe and fitting prepwork as well as time to heat up the pipe and solder the fitting. The propress if often used on larger systems when water shut off time needs to be limited as it affects a large group of people (in condos and buildings).

Jackhammer

On some jobs if demolition is needed, we have all sizes of jackhammers to get the job done.

Scaffolding

Scaffolding can be very useful and save on time when we are working overhead. Most of the time we would set up scaffolding while working in parkades.

Solder Flux Gas

Solder flux and gas are used whenever we need to solder on a job. There are quite a few expensive pieces of equipment and materials used every time we solder. The gas tank which gets refilled regularly, the hose, torch nozzle, and regulator, the roll of solder, container of flux, fitting brushes, and sand cloth used to clean the pipe and fittings all contribute to the job.

Toilet Auger

In most cases the toilet auger is our first step in attempting to clear a blocked toilet. It allows us to clear the drain without removing the toilet which saves a lot of time.

Pump

The pump charge is used most commonly when we are dealing with a storm drain that is blocked or a sump pump that has failed. These are typically left on site until we can purchase a new pump or until the drain has been cleared. These pumps have a built-in float to control how often it cycles on and off. In a flooding situation they are invaluable.

HVAC Equipment

Flue Gas Analyzer

While doing repair or service work on gas fired appliances we will often test the units flue gas. This allows our technicians to read the data and make the necessary adjustments to help the unit achieve optimal combustion which will extend its life and save the customer money.

Recovery Pump

Our recovery pump is used on air conditioning appliances to remove and store refrigerant while we perform our repair or service on the equipment. These pumps undergo wear and tear and need to be maintained.

Vacuum Pump

The vacuum pump is used to evacuate ACs, a process by which we pull out all air and moisture from the refrigerant system prior to testing, repairs, and recharging. This is another costly piece of equipment that is regularly maintained.

Threading Machine

Larger jobs where we are installing gas pipe we will sometimes call for a threading machine. This machine allows us to bring full lengths of black iron gas pipe in which we can cut down and thread ourselves so that each run of pipe and each bend fits your job scenario perfectly. These machines are very expensive and require regular cleaning and maintenance. In hard to reach areas where we need to thread a pipe in place we also have hand threaders.

Coil Cleaner

Coil cleaner is often used during servicing of air conditioning systems. Dirty evaporator coils caused from dust and debris inside your home will affect the cooling capabilities of your unit so it is important to keep them clean.

C/O Detector

The carbon monoxide detector is used on any service or repair jobs where gas fired appliances are involved. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, gas that is produced by incomplete combustion. Furthermore it is nearly impossible to detect without detection technology. It is very important to check for CO on gas fired appliances as it can be deadly in large amounts.

Nitrogen

When working on air conditioning systems nitrogen is often used to flush the line set. The reason for this is to rid the lines of any oil residue and contaminants that may be in the system.
